The Breaking Point in the United States: Science and Beliefs

Updated: May 3, 2021

Now don't get me wrong, I understand why some are scared to get the COVID-19 vaccine. Science can be relatively scary and the vaccines did come very quickly. It's almost like the entire world was pooling its resources together to find vaccines so this deadly pandemic that has shifted the entire course of the world so we can return to as much normalcy as possible!

Okay, enough ranting on my part, but it's very frustrating constantly living in a world where people like to discredit science, and those who dedicate their life to medical research because of their hubris or political views. The 2020 Election really did a lot of damage to this country, and in my honest opinion, this country was damaged enough. However, 2020 really pushed the United States to the point where I would sometimes worry about civil war breaking out. Watching white supremacists storm the Capital was one of the scariest things I can remember as an American. I still remember vividly sitting on my couch that entire day, continuously watching the news and refreshing social media, clinging on to any update that was given that day. What frightens me now is how quickly people brushed off an attack on our Capital. Never has anyone stormed the Capital, and it's abhorrent to know that in the year 2021, people were able to bring the Confederate Flag, a visual representation of racism and how backwards America used to be (and still is), walk through those historic halls. Too many people now have an opinion and a hatred for one another, and that has to change.
